Vacation Clerkships

The objective of the vacation clerkship programme is to provide students with a taste of life in a small national tax law firm based in Perth. For more than 9 years, Brett Davies Lawyers has offered vacation clerkships annually. As a Law Society Quality Endorsed Law Firm it is of interest to many students to see the systems that the law firm has in place. We offer both summer and winter clerk programmes.

As a vacation clerk, you receive extensive training on all aspects of the firm, telephone technique, administration, drafting and research skills. Our lawyers speak to you about what they do and the nature of work in each of the legal sections in the firm. You have the opportunity to work with our lawyers as a member of our legal team, attend professional development seminars and briefing sessions on business development strategies and information technology. There is also a variety of social events organised for our vacation clerks. The best training we can offer is through direct day-to-day contact with our approachable lawyers and support team.

By contributing to a team dealing with real clients and matters, you quickly determine if this is the career for you.

Who are we looking for? We focus on attracting students who have the ability, ambition and enthusiasm to excel in taxation and superannuation. These are the 2 fastest moving areas of law in Australia. It is not for the faint hearted or undisciplined. These attributes are only partly assessed from your academic results. Extracurricular interests and life experience are important to us. Our lawyers are well rounded and participate positively in society.

You should also demonstrate that you can work effectively in a team and have a practical, issue solving approach to your work.
